Criteria
You can nominate an athlete from any age and from any Deaf sports in the UK that is affiliated to a Deaf Sport Body which can include Ball sports e.g. Rugby, Cricket, Golf & Basketball, Racket sports e.g. Tennis, Badminton & Squash, Water sports e.g. Swimming, Sailing Waterpolo,, Winter sports e.g. Ski-ing, Curling, Summer sports e.g. Athletics (field and track), Marathon, and Indoor games e.g. Pool, Table Tennis & Darts.(click for BSL clip)
You can nominate any Deaf athlete regardless of their specific hearing loss as long as it meets the regulations of their specific sport body which they are involved with. (click for BSL clip)
Home athletes are those who participate in Deaf Sport for England, Scotland, Wales, Great Britain or Northern Ireland athletes representing Great Britain. (click for BSL clip)
Overseas athletes are those that represent their country overseas including Northern Ireland athletes representing Ireland.

Each nomination will require a brief summary on the athlete’s achievement and merit. This will enable the five Judges to make a reasonable and fair judgment in selecting the most deserving athlete for a specific award. (click for BSL clip)

How to nominate?
You shall be able to vote online after purchasing e-ticket. Once purchased e-ticket you will receive an auto-message email with a unique password. The password will allow you vote once for DSPY awards. Each vote will include a brief summary on why you have nominated this athlete and athlete’s achievement and merit. This will enable the five Judges to make a reasonable and fair judgment in selecting the most deserving athlete for a specific award. (click for BSL clip)

We will collate the votes’ information and pass them to the five Judges from Midland, North, South of England, Scotland and Wales. The judges will decide on the six deserving athletes and forward the six athlete nominations for the DSPY Award night. The nominated six athletes and their profile will be shown on DSPY website in November 2010.
The winner, runner up and third place DSPY will be based on public vote on the Award night. There will be a short film clip on each six athlete along with their voting number. The vote will open after showing the 6th athlete film clip and will close half hour before the DSPY Award. (click for BSL clip)
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Judges will decide on the most deserving athlete to win this precious Award and a winner will be announced on the night with a tribute film. (click for BSL clip)
Team of the Year Award, Overseas Player of the Year Award, Coach of the Year Award, Young Player of the Year Award, Unsung Hero Award, Fan of the Year Award.
